Super hairstylist Guido Palau, is the man behind next season’s mega-curls.
Choosing to embrace the havoc-wreaking weather conditions of the season, Guido created big and bouncy curls for both Marc by Marc Jacobs and Bottega Venetta.
For Marc the look was more dishevelled, whilst at Bottega he left the top sleek for a more retro finish.
The trick to this look is providing a good base, for a healthy bounce.
Having conquered the crowns of film’s finest at this year’s Baftas, Charles Worthington are bringing the salon into the houses of plenty, with their Salon at Home range.
The instant amplifying volume treatment, suitable for all hair types and enriched with collagen, is a weightless rinse-out jelly that aims to lift hair from all angles, leaving a voluminous frizz-free finish.
The winter’s been pretty cruel to my hair and this has given it a much needed boost, plus it smells great and looks pretty slick.
Charles Worthington, Salon at Home Secrets Collection, Instant Amplifying Volume Treatment. Available at Boots, Priced £14.99.
I, like probably all of us, regularly attack my hair with the GHDs and having already had it chemically treated, it eventually decided it wanted a break from me, literally!
Breakage or thinning hair is common these days as straighteners get hotter and outside colder.
Started in 1987 when founder Eva Graham noticed she had thinner hair after her pregnancy, Nioxin aims to tackle hair that is thinning for any reason, be it stress or chemical treatment.
To ascertain your needs visit Nioxin’s website, where you fill in a short questionnaire about your hair type, texture and state. After this is complete, Nioxin recommends a system kit for you from 1-6.
Daily use is recommended and having used it for a month now, the roots of my hair are back to their full and very curly selves.
Hair masks have become an at-home staple for women in want of super soft, intensely nourished hair.
Mizani, a premium brand within L’Oreal is designed specifically for those with excessive curls; in short it is the Kerastase for afro or naturally curly hair.
Mizani’s Supreme Oil Mask is enriched with 8 supreme oils including Shea Butter, Rice Bran, Argan and Avocado oils. The silicone-free formula restores hair’s natural softness, protects from dryness and breakage and is light enough for finer hair types.
Both the mask and the results were great, just don’t get it in your mouth because it tastes awful.
So now your hair’s been washed, nourished, and is feeling bouncy, for extra volume try a mousse such as Tigi Catwalk, used by Olivia Palermo.
Catwalk by Tigi’s Curlesque Strong Mousse boasts long-lasting hold and definition. Formulated with deep sea extracts of kelp, sea fennel and seaweed, as well as total style recall, which ensures your hair returns to your desired style despite the weather, makes this mousse a must-have.
Tigi Catwalk Curlesque Strong Mousse, available at Feelunique.com, £9.30.
For best results apply the mousse to the mid-lengths and ends of damp hair and give a quick blow-dry. Take two-inch sections of hair and curl, alternating the direction for a more natural look.
If you have time and want to follow Guido’s lead, pin and then wrap hair to protect and hold curls.
To recreate the Bottega Veneta sleek top try Leigh Lezark’s favourite holding serum by Tigi Catwalk, which I swear by.
Tigi Catwalk’s Curlesque Defining Serum is also enriched with moisture-rich sea extracts, and the total style recall formula, but with an added touch of Jasmine, ensures silky and defined curls.
A defining serum is really the ultimate hair product, giving shine as well as hold, meaning that you don’t have to overdo the hairspray and guarantees you’re not left with the nineties crunchy curl.
For a Marc by Marc finish, back comb curls to give a frizzier effect, or just go outside!
Big is always better.
