With only 11 days until the launch of Lancome x Alber Elbaz , the anticipation is beyond palpable.
Elbaz (Creative Director of Lanvin) who is known for his ability to always seek and conjure the magic in fashion, has managed to make what is no doubt a very lucrative collaboration for both, into a magical moment where fashion and beauty collide.
The designer, who will be making over the mascara cases of Lancome’s Hypnose Show, for the first part of their collaboration, has created a cartoon in anticipation of the Selfridges release on June 15th.
The enchantingly charming animation, is all about the eyes; the eyes that watch the runway and the social media eyes that watch those watching the runway. If nothing else it is a declaration of fashion now and how the industry has been rocked, arguably for the better, by social media and the accessibility the internet has brought.
Taking inspiration from Lancome’s curvaceous mascara cases, Elbaz set about by anthropomorphising them into women, having likened them to the curves of the female form. The women are dressed as the mascara will be, in stars, hearts and Lanvin’s other signature, dreamy doodles.
In the world of fashion where we often find ourselves obsessing about how and where we’re seen, and putting on a show, Alber always reminds us to embrace the innocent beauty in such moments and have a little fun.
Bring on June 15th!
