This new found status as a musical muse, got Donatella feeling all Rock & Roll (and as Kanye recently noted in his Zane Lowe interview- rap stars are the new rock stars).
Versace kept things a little more traditional rock & roll, with gunmetal-hued baroque jeans, denim jackets, skin tight leather trousers and inkly black biker jackets, with the added impetus of Versace concert tees (reading I’m a fan with a list of Versace’s favourite cities at the back. This was a collection for both groupies and rock stars.
When the focus of a collection is rock & roll there can only be one make-up look, and that is eyeliner. Jet black kohl lined the upper and lower rims of lashes, giving the girls instant attitude.
Taking the lead from the ultimate rock chick, Kate Moss, models’ hair was parted in the centre, making the look look less ‘done’.
As the Autumn/Winter ’13/14 catwalks were awash with heavy eyeliner, seen at Pucci, Marc Jacobs, Versace and Marc Jacobs, it is a look that will see through this year and next; plus eyeliner’s a bargain – just make sure it’s kohl.
