Get the Chelsea Look – Paul Edmonds – Testing the Treatment

It’s monday, it’s rainy and the week has only just begun. However there is one thing to put a smile on our faces this evening and that’s the return of Made in Chelsea.
Yes the Sloanes that we’ve grown to love, are back for Season 6 and though we can’t predict the new dramas that will be shaking up SW3, we can predict that the girls will be sporting Kim Sears’ Wimbledon worthy hair.
What started with Kate, has fast become a signature trend amongst the Chelsea lot. Though we know great hair is easy to achieve when you can afford to have a weekly blow-dry. It’s just as important to know where to go and who to call when you have a society ball, red-carpet event or a ski-trip to look good for.
Paul Edmonds, has been styling the stars for decades and is a firm favourite with the likes of Jean Paul Gautier and Vogue.
The world-class hairdresser, who was recently admitted into BAFTA is also responsible for styling the posh do’s of our high society faves, the ladies of Downton.
I was lucky enough to test a treatment at the Paul Edmonds salon, and having seen Milly and Rosie chatting away there last season, I was excited to see what magic they could work on my frizzy mane.
The salon, situated on Knightsbridge, just before Harrods, is almost easy to miss amidst the crowds of tourists lining the streets, but once you’ve located it and slipped in, the atmosphere is one of calm escapism and quiet luxury.
The salon stretches all the way back and though there are countless stylists milling around, you instantly feel relaxed.  The mahogany wood with matching mahogany armchairs, perfectly offsets the white panelled walls and the slender lamps and baby pink roses transport you to the dressing table you always wish you had.
The receptionists on the way out were lovely, but on my arrival I don’t feel I necessarily had the best greeting. The stylist however, put me instantly at ease. He sat me down and talked me through my hair, it’s history and what look I wanted and then took me through to get washed.
I could see why the Chelsea set love this salon so much, as it’s like being in the house of a rich friend. It’s plush, without being pretentious and the high ceilings and framed pictures dotted around just make you feel special. My hairstylist and I had a great chat about what products we liked, what he’d done in the past and what I could do in the future, which I always find so helpful.
Upon returning to my seat I was offered beverages and biscuits, which is always a nice treat and I worked my way through the magazines, as he worked his way through my mass of hair.
After I was blow-dried and my now soft hair had, had a once over with the straighteners, I was given a trim which really made a huge difference.
Listening to the regulars around me, Paul Edmonds definitely has a real sense of community- I witnessed women and men of all ages around me, catching up in a way that suggested they’d built real relationships with their stylists; which surely is the best advocate for any salon.
I really enjoyed my Paul Edmonds experience and it is definitely a place I’d like to get to know, and would revisit for the ambience alone.
