Today saw the launch of Spring/Summer 14’s most exciting campaigns yet.
In the first Rihanna became the face for Balmain, music to the ears of Creative Director Olivier Rousteing, who said he couldn’t be happier that the woman who inspires his creations helped bring them to life.
The graphic tiled background struck the perfect balance to the outlandish eighties inspired pieces. Whilst Rihanna’s influence can be seen in the chain obi belts, gold capped boots and chain-panelled denim, and the disturbia-esque curly hair.
So far it’s my campaign of the season.
The second campaign of the season so far, is Burberry‘s return to their iconic ad campaigns in which they launch new British ‘ones to watch’. Having already launched Lily Donaldson, Cara Delevingne, Jourdan Dunn and Edie Campbell to global fame, the new stars getting their debut are Prada girl Malaika Firth, actor Jamie Campbell Bower and recent Vogue star Jean Campbell.
Other new faces include: Neelam Johal, Matilda Lowther and Callum Ball.
It’s great to see the classic Burberry check reintroduced to a new audience, alongside some very summery pastel hues; and Burberry going back to the magic of the ensemble cast.
Jamila x
