Go Green with Spring’s new scents.

I don’t know if it’s because Spring immediately conjures images of foliage and days spent frolicking in the park, but for some reason everyone seems to be making their perfumes green.

To be fair there is something instantly refreshing about these light lime concoctions, that much like the autumnal golds or the deep purple and red bottles that always appear around Christmas time, that makes one instinctively drawn to them.

As Spring is now upon us in all of its 10-degree glory there seemed no better time to explore these leafy hued Eau’s.

First up is Elie Saab, creator of the eternally elegant, intricately embellished show stopping gowns; season after season. Saab’s  L’Eau Couture was created by renowned nose Francis Kurkdjian as an ode to freshness and sophistication.

With the enlivening Orange Blossom at its centre, also known to be an aphrodisiac, balanced by top notes of bergamot and magnolia, and base notes of green almond and vanilla, it promises to be as “sophisticated and sensual” as Kurkdjian attests.

Judging by the bottle alone, it’s a pretty safe bet.

Dolce & Gabbana are also in the mood for nymph green, which seems totally in sync with their SS14 show; a dedication to all things Sicilian, where models sauntered down the runway in floaty floral dresses and tiny flowers in their hair.

Unsurprisingly Dolce & Gabbana’s Dolce is formulated with delicate flowers: white daffodil, papaya flower, waterlilies and neroli leaves. At their core is the white amaryllis, a full-bodied south African flower,  also central to their campaign. The bottle is beautiful enough, but considering the white amaryllis has never been used before, you’re guaranteed a unique summer scent.

Last but not least, is Maison Martin Margielas Untitled. A unisex scent and thus the perfect present for any lover, as you can use it too. Woo.
Considering Margiela, the masters of minimalism and all things white, have opted for a punchy lime hue for their Spring/Summer fragrance, you know that green fragrances are the way forward this season.

Margiela have truly immersed themselves in their colour choice, mimicking their hue with their scent. Untitled is a crisp concoction of crushed mint and galbanum leaves, Sicilian mandarin, lemon and orange blossom, given a musky twist with cedar wood and incense.
The striking lime of the Eau contrasted with the opaque white casing of the bottle and signature crafty rope, is pure Margiela and unsurprisingly cool.

Maison Martin Margiela, Untitled, £50. Available at Selfridges.

So whether you’re venturing to Sicily this summer, or not. With a spritz of any of these three you’ll be instantly transported; in spirit anyway.
