Berry lips have been off the radar for a while now, but for some reason last weekend- out of nowhere, I whipped out my Chanel, Rouge Coco Shine No.92.
It was a sultry saturday evening, my eyes were a Nars shade of copper bronze, I’d caught the sun and it just seemed fitting.
After a summer of trying to get orange lipstick to work for me, it was refreshing to fall back on an old classic that I know works. Having had a good four seasons of berry lipsticks, we all know which is the berry for us, the first sign of the trend saw us rushing to Tom Ford for his Black Orchid, but as it’s prevalence showed no signs of abating, it was Topshop‘s Beguiled or Inhibition all the way.
It seems I’m not the only one in the mood for going back to Gothic. The Givenchy Fall (Autumn/Winter) 14 campaign has just dropped and whilst everyone’s been obsessing over Kendall Jenner starring in her first proper campaign and the Lanvin-style dancing in the video, the dark berry lips are all that I can see.
Whilst my rediscovery of my penchant for berry excites me deeply, it is June and I don’t want to get carried away quite yet, so for now, I must control myself and stick to Chanel’s sheer and hydrating Rouge Coco Shine in Emotion (£25 Boots,) balm-like in its texture with the most subtle tint of plum, it’s the perfect way to get me back into my berry zone and channel a bit of Summer Givenchy.
