So this week has been a work week. Lots of press days but lots of fun.
The week started with the launch of the Trilogy Christmas collection, which was a very chic take on Christmas as they opted for painterly prints as opposed to kitsch Xmas merch, meaning that you can stock up and hand them out as pressies at least until March; maybe not the baubles though, a bit of a giveaway. I saw the collection earlier this year but seeing them in the very glamorous Cavendish Sq setting and on a dark autumn evening, they seemed even more right. The collection features their classic aromatic body oil and famous Rosehip face oil, which is divine and easily the best face oil around, as well as mini lip balms, eye creams and moisturisers so you can ease yourself into getting acquainted with the brand.
Next, I got to indulge my first love, fashion, at the Village Press and Coffin on Cake Press days. At Coffin I fell in love with the CAT boots- there was really something for everyone: metallic, a one off leather pair designed by Christopher Shannon and a new range designed in collaboration with street artist Walala, featuring primary coloured and monochromatic illustrations.
The Hawaiian Converse backpacks also took my fancy, perfect for festivals, roads trips and days at the beach. As did the new collection of kooky sunnies from Australian eyewear brand Quay, the black and yellow spotted sunnies are high on my list, along with the Santigold designed socks for Stance, and the stance-own glitter socks, perfect for wearing with the new open toe jujus.
The next day I rushed over to Village Press to see the Ashish collection up close. Gingham sequin shift dresses and sea blue sequinned boyfriend jeans were my highlights, along with the shoes! Snakeskin and fur topped platforms and snakeskin high tops, what’s not to like?
Also at VP was the Holly Fulton SS15 collection, a retro rethink of Grace Kelly style; wide leg trousers look set to be making a comeback as they popped up at Holly Fulton, in navy, grey and print and at Fyodor Golan in bright orange chiffon.
After indulging in a very delicious chocolate and raspberry tart I was treated to a Supra T-shirt. They clearly know that anything sportswear is very well received by me. Mainly because I prefer to wear sport than do it.
My last appointment of the week was at Selfridges, where the new Choupette for Shu Uemera collection was unveiled. For those of you who don’t know, Choupette is the privileged and very pampered cat of Karl Lagerfeld, with her own Twitter account of 43.5 thousand followers and a Paris apartment.
The collection created by Karl Lagerfeld and Choupette of course (fashion is funny) features skincare, lip palettes and a collection of sparkly lashes. Although the entire collection was tongue in cheek fun (and speaks to the pre teen in us all,) the eye palettes and mousse-to-powder blushes were no chuckling matter. My favourite by far was the 02 eye palette, which features a plummy bronze, perfect for this Autumn Winter. Before I left with my palettes and Choupette for Shu Uemera eyelash curlers (very happy with those!) I got the chance to take a selfie with Choupette and get my pic printed on a marshmallow. I’m yet to eat it because I fear Choupette may feel eating is far too gauche. But if you’re a big Shu Uemera or Karl Lagerfeld fan and are looking for something new to add to your collection, this is a really fun place to start. The pop up counter will be at Selfridges until Friday (Halloween) before it moves into the main collection.
