Get the Look – Lottie Moss’ Poker Straight Hair

Kate Moss‘ little sister Lottie is very much making a name for herself. The young model who has fronted campaigns for Calvin Klein Jeans and starred as an unofficial ambassador for Saint Laurent Paris in her first shoot for Dazed magazine, has now landed the job as the face for Red Valentino. In the shoot for the new diffusion collection, Lottie injects a bit of humour into her signature solemn pout. Beyond the pop art style sweaters and shoot in general, it is Lottie’s poker straight hair that has Blush swooning.

There’s something about super straight hair that is instantly empowering. For some reason, when my hair is dead straight I feel more confident, groomed and more powerful. Your hair is telling the world ‘I spent time on this and I look fit.’ Poker straight hair, in my mind takes me back to when I first bought ceramics and over straightened my hair for a night-out to look older. It brings me back to a time when I actually had time to straighten my hair and going out on the town was an occasion.
So, if even for one day a month,  whip out the straighteners.  Start from the back, working your way to the front in sections. Take 30 minutes out of your day for you.

The key to creating the look is a great base. Rough dry your hair and then blow-dry it in sections.

Lee Stafford‘s keratin and Argan oil infused brushes are perfect for adding volume and speeding up drying time.  My favourite is the Frizz Off Square Barrel Brush (£14.99, Boots), as it’s square shape makes it easy to create tension at the root whilst the keratin-loaded barrel ensures silky smooth results.

Next up give your whole head a spritz of Paul Mitchell‘s Hot off the Press (£15.25, Lookfantastic). The weightless spray leaves hair feeling light, but helps straighten hair, as it protects it.

Cloud Nine’s straighteners are a godsend they’re very funky as you snap them together to turn them on or up. Thankfully they automatically turn off so there’s no chance of starting a fire. Yippee. That aside they’re bloody marvellous at straightening (£99, Cloud Nine Hair).

Lastly finish off with a few drops of serum. Bumble & Bumble‘s is a classic, but I’ve just tried the Salon Science Swiss Grape Smoothing Serum which smells incredible and leaves hair equally smooth. (£18, Boots)
