Rihanna stunned last week, top to toe in Altuzurra SS15 pink gingham, but it was her uber dark red lips that caught our attention.
I’ve been raving about berry lips since I got my hands on Topshop’s Beguiled years ago and it seems that every winter without fail we fall for the mysterious hue. Perhaps it’s because it’s the perfect combination of grungey and seductive. Either way once again it’s a winter winner.

Chanel’s rouge coco shine in Aura is ideal for recreating Rihanna’s look. As with all of their Coco Shines the formula glides on, is ultra hydrating and leaves a glossy finish. When it comes to dark reds, they don’t come much darker than the almost Aubergine Aura, a plummy bordeaux mix, which is the perfect shade to keep people guessing.

Topshop‘s lipsticks are great and not just because they’re £8. The creamy formula keeps lips soft and hydrated and stays on for a surprisingly long time. You’ve no doubt tried Beguiled– a deep berry classic, but as Topshop are currently loving all things matte, their newest shades come with a matte finish. If you want something similar to Beguiled, then the bruised berry Suspected is ideal. If you’re looking to mimic Rih Rih’s sombre scarlet, try Black widow. Or failing that get both.
I’ve already raved about Nars’ pure matte lipstick and I have to admit, it kind of ruined me for the Topshop matte. The Nars matte is on another level really: it’s moisturising, totally matte and just looks really cool. The Topshop offering is great if you want something in between, but if you want to give evening glamour an edge, this is the one.
I love Terre de Feu which is a dark brownish berry, but Valpariso and Vesuvio are also great.
