Blush Loves…Ojon

If like me you’re a brown chick with a penchant for luxury goods, you may find shopping for hair products somewhat exasperating and if nothing else, a bit samey. The idea of trudging down to some market or other, or braving the journey to Paks once a month is not particularly glamorous or perhaps in keeping with your chosen lifestyle. Although you’ll still have to pop to the corner shop for that jar of coconut oil, you can now find the finest hair products at Harrods.

Ojon, the hair care brand whose secret lies in its use of ojon oil, hand-harvested from the nuts of the Central American Ojon tree, has truly transformed my hair’s condition.

The brand cater to all hair types, so whether you’re hair’s blonde, black or brunette, curly thick or fine, they’ve got something for you.

I was lucky enough to recently get a blow dry by the Ojon team, at their Grosvener Sq press pop-up (I did say they were classy) and though I felt terribly sorry for the hair stylist that got me, the result was quite remarkable; my hair was glossy, tame and smelt amazing.

Thankfully they gave me some goodies to take home, and sadly whilst I am swiftly running out, I know I will speedily replenishing on a few; here are a few of my favourites:

The Hair Mask

This mask, which should be applied either 20 minutes before washing hair (or the night before if you’re forward thinking) is incredible. The little tub contains what looks like a clay, but upon further inspection is more of a buttery balm that’s easy to manage. As soon as you open the jar, you’re hit  with the warm, scent of ojon and as you apply it, you instantly find your hair doing what you want it to. If I could I’d leave it on all day i would, because it made my hair instantly more manageable and soft. Unlike many hair masks, the results are instant and you can feel your hair lapping up the moisture this hearty mask provides.

The Blow Dry Cream

If like me you haven’t found a blow-dry cream to rival the very old school Pink Lotion, you’ll rejoice at this non-greasy offering. The Super Sleek blow dry cream, is a thermally-active formula, infused with the highly taming ojon oil, amongst other oils-including macadamia and bamboo- as well as keratin. The lightweight formula is surprisingly hydrating with the smallest amount, and leaves hair soft, manageable and seriously glossy. It’s impossible to relay in words how good this really is.

The Conditioner

Ojon have an array of great conditioners, including a co-wash, but this super thick and luxurious conditioner is my favourite. What makes it special is it’s duality. One part is a blend of rich oils: ojon, marula, and moroi mixed with muru muru, kokum and shea butters, whilst its other half is a more traditional creamy conditioner. The combination results in super soft and clearly nourished hair. I kind of consider it a hair dessert- a true treat for dry or damaged hair.

Rare Blend Deep Conditioner, £30, Harrods, or Boots.
