Joan Smalls is officially the Queen of the dark red lip. The Puerto Rican Super, had us falling in love with berry lips a few years back, and she’s gone and done it again.
After we recently declared our love for all things nude, Joan reignited our lust for oxblood red, at the launch of her True Religion collaboration, in L.A last night.
Pairing her rich red with a slick ponytail, perfectly groomed brows and some seriously impressive contouring, Joan added edge with an ear cuff.
As it’s not exactly sunny yet, this is the perfect post winter pick-me-up.

After you’ve applied your foundation, contour cheeks with a darker shade of powder. We’re still loving RMK’s brow powder kit and Eyeko’s brow Gel.
The best false lashes we’ve tried in a while come courtesy of Eyelure. The beauty of these is that not only are they reusable and stay on all night. There are so many variations of just one kind of lash, meaning that you can really find the perfect lashes for any occasion. To mimic Joan’s fanned lashes, we’d recommend Volume in No. 101 (£5.39, Boots); or if you’re really hardcore, Dramatic in No. 202 (6.99 Boots).
What undoubtedly makes this look a winner is the rosewood red.
YSL’s Rouge Volupte Shine is a classic. The hydrating, hyper pigmented lipstick is glossy enough to look appealing, but lacking a tacky shine. This long-lasting lippie, holds its hue for hours and the case is pretty pimped.

Burberry’s lipsticks are like liquid: super silky and surprisingly soft. The gel-like texture sets this lipstick apart, rendering it almost weightless. This is a buildable lippie, that doesn’t just sit on lips but hugs them.

If you’re looking for luxury then this lipstick is it. Enriched with vitamin E and apricot oil, this hydrating lipstick requires no lip liner (which is the dream; if like me you always find your lipstick halfway down your chin an hour after application.) The velvet matte formula, leaves lips looking modern, with this shade in particular- the perfect companion for an evening out.

Not everyone wants to spend twenty quid on a lipstick, and that’s why Topshop’s lipsticks never fail to make it onto out lists. Affordable and always on-point Topshop’s lipsticks are always cheap and cheerful. If you’ve been waiting for a successor to Beguiled, Sashay Away is it.

Complete the look with an Ear cuff.
If you’re feeling flush Anita Ko’s 18 carat gold cuff is divine, but the High-St have some pretty good affordable alternatives.
