Get the Look – Sleek ‘Braided’ Buns

With Carnival around the corner, and Autumn on the way, there’s no better time to try the braided bun.

For next season, channel Anna Ewers Eighties vibe and team with drop earrings.

Get the Look:

If you are styling from damp, spritz a liberal amount of GHD’s Straight & Smooth Spray (£12.95, LookFantastic) into hair and comb through.

For wavy or curly hair, start by giving it a quick whizz over with straighteners; I love Cloud Nine’s Nine Iron (£116.95, LookFantastic), which turns on automatically as soon as you press the plates together, and literally halves my straightening time.

GHD Straight and smooth

Next, smooth out any lumps or bumps with a paddle brush. Lee Stafford’s Argan-oil infused paddle brush (£9.99, Boots) is ideal for this slick look.

Part hair with a tail comb and give each section another brush through.

Ojon Flyaway oil

Secure your ponytails with elastics and then separate each section into two. Twist each sub-section into twists going in the same direction and secure with an elastic. Twist the twists around each other and secure with pins. Daniel Hersheson’s little pots of hair grips (£6, Hershesons) are super handy and come in packs of 75 so you’ll have loads left if you lose them.

Smooth flyaways with Ojon’s Rare Blend Tamer (£12.50, Origins)- a mini version of their best-selling hair oil that comes with a mascara style brush, so you can touch up on the go.

Redken Fashion Work 12 Spray

Finally finish with, Redken Fashion Work 12 Spray (£10.10, LookFantastic) or for Afro or Mixed hair, try Keracare’s Oil Sheen Spray (£5.75, LookFantastic).
