Shop the new Boot – The Calfie – Sock vs Skin

Autumn is finally here; and whilst I know I should be pining over our lost summer, I couldn’t be happier.

Autumn/Winter is by far my favourite season and the time you can truly demonstrate you sartorial prowess. Last week we got into the new 80s mood with Anna Ewers’ sleek buns, but now it’s time to get practical- with the first thing you should buy at the start of the chilly season – boots.

Designers couldn’t seem to really decide whether it was the 70s, or 80s that were inspiring them, so take advantage. There were two standout styles for the season ahead: the 70s knee-high (see our get the look from last winter for inspo) and the mid -calf boot.

Coming in varying guises there are only two Calfies to be seen in this season: and they are the sock boot (inspired by Dior’s patent perspex-heeled number) and the animal skin boot -which came in snakeskin or crocodile (as seen on AW15 shows of Marni, Kenzo and Chloe.)

Whatever you go for make sure your last is sleek and your ankles aren’t showing. Here’s my pick of the best on the high-street.
