Get the Look – Smouldering Eyes at Versace

When it comes to sex, nobody sells it better than Versace. It’s full throttle and unabashed and that’s why we love it.

For their Couture collection, that showed in Paris this week,  the Versace Atelier held no punches, with supermodels Joan Smalls, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Lara Stone and Adriana Lima walking alongside new heavyweights Gigi Hadid, Lineisy Montero and Stella Maxwell.

The sexiest of supers strutted down the catwalk in varying degrees of  cut-out dresses- laser cut and draped just so, to give a not-so-subtle hint of what lay beneath.

For those of us not quite ready to bare it all, the backstage beauty looks were a little easier to recreate in time for the weekend.

Much like Tom Ford’s SS16 Ready-to-wear show, smudgy come to bed eyes were the order of the day.

Get the Look:

First line the tops and bottom of eyes with kohl liner – a nice smudgy black one, will be ideal.

Glo & Ray, M.A.C and Kevyn Aucoin all have great options.

If you’re going for any type of smokey eye,  I’d always suggest doing your eyes before your foundation – to avoid any excess black dust getting on your perfectly preened face.

After you’ve lined your eyes, you’ll need a nice base. Chanel’s illusion d’ombre is a great cream shadow and they have some great pearlescent pinks and champagnes for Spring, which are ideal if you have a fair complexion.

For a base like this, I’d go for something creamy, to avoid any creases and make blending easier.

If you have darker skin, I’d go for something with a rich gold or bronze pigment, like By Terry’s Ombre Blackstar (£29) in Beyond Gold, or Laura Mercier’s Caviar Stick (£22) in Burnished Bronze.

Apply the cream shadow with your fingers to the entire eyelid and top up with a little more kohl liner to the upper lash line.

Next, apply a moon shaped crescent along your eyelid crease, just beneath the brow bone and blend.

Nars and M.A.C have great pots of matte black shadow that will last you for years. If you want something a little easier, try the By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Matte Black and just apply straight to the eyelid and smudge.

Blend the darker shadow into the lighter shade, being sure to leave a little of the lighter shade untouched in the middle.

To further open up eyes, apply a little of the lighter shade to the corners of eyes and blend.

To keep the look low key, keep lips neutral and dust with a little powder to ensure they stay matte. Apply your foundation as normal and apply a little highlighter to the high points of your face (cheekbones, bridge of nose and cupid’s bow) and brush out brows to keep them bold and fluffy.

To finish apply a little mascara, I love L’Oreal’s Million Lashes or Benefit’s They’re Real.

And voila, you have a super sexy look, that would do Donatella proud.
