I’ve always liked Chinese New Year. As well as being a fan of hong bao and the treats that lay within them, I love that each year has it’s own personality. Distinguished by animals, CNY brings more meaning to the new year than it just being ‘a new year.’ No ‘New Year New You’ malarkey here. CNY is a way of assessing what the year ahead may have in store and acting accordingly. It’s actually the smartest way to approach the year ahead, and since realising that I’m a Tiger in every sense of the word, I’ve been hooked.
So what does the Year of the Rooster have in store? Well if you’re actually a rooster, like Britney, Justin and Jessica Alba, the year may actually be quite tricky. According to Travel China Guide (an undoubtedly trustworthy source), bad fortune lies ahead for the rooster in 2017, but apparently, if they budget wisely, their tolerant and tender nature will see them through, relatively unscathed.
For those of us not born in ’69, ’81, ’93, or ’05, we can all reap great rewards by tapping into Rooster traits. Loyalty, commitment, hard work, family values and looking our best, are just some of the characteristics that will be rewarded this year.
Doing better, the better I appear, is all the excuse I need, to seal the deal on Gucci’s limited edition Dionysus bag. Not only does it’s sturdy doctoral structure look very smart (which will be handy for all that hard work I’ll be doing); it just so happens to be fashioned in China’s luckiest colour – red; and comes emblazoned in intricately engraved gold flowers and a Tiger head closure.
If that’s not a sign of a promising year ahead, I’m not sure what is.
