Introducing… Charlotte Tilbury Collagen Lip Bath

There’s something about lip gloss. It has an oddly adolescent reputation, sort of a “lipstick light” for those not quite ready to take the plunge. And while teenagerhood is, to me, always an aspirational state, I do think there’s something to be said for a more serious lip gloss. Gloss for grown-ups, if you will.

Enter the Charlotte Tilbury Collagen Lip Bath. Even the name is fantastic – it lets you know that this is true luxury. And from the iconic rose gold packaging to the heat shaped wand, it absolutely delivers on that promise.

Full lips are probably the biggest Instagram trend, and while fillers are the only true way to actually increase your mouth size, they’re also expensive, painful and already out of fashion (we’re looking at you KJ). The vast majority of plumping glosses serve only to irritate, but the Collagen Lip Bath works more cleverly, as an optical illusion.

Firstly, there is the mysterious mustard sprout extract, which draws hydration to lips and fills out lines. This gives a smooth, recently injected appearance without having to actually get injected. Bonus!

Charlotte herself says that “the whole world is dehydrated.” By simply adequately hydrating lips, one can instantly take them to their maximum fullness potential. It’s a genius concept in its simplicity. Dry lips look small. Moist lips look big.

Next, there’s Marine Collagen, which hydrates, smooths and adds volume. There’s also the signature menthol scent, which gives a plumping sensation without any pain or irritation; whilst coconut oil boosts nourishment.

The gloss also has a reflective pink sheen. This draws light to the lips, making them stand out more. It also gives dimension, which makes lips look poutier and fuller. Clever stuff.

Rather than relying on pain and causing blood to rush to the lips, Charlotte Tilbury has created a gentler, more pleasant and obviously completely glamourous alternative. If you love lip gloss already, this is a must. And if you don’t love lip gloss, I’d suggest this may be the one to convert you.
